The scientific outcomes of "Le français en (première) ligne" cover following issues:

- impact of multimedia features on learning and teaching,
- teacher training in ICT,
- cultural dimensions in online exchanges,
- situated, collaborative and autonomous learning,
- analysis of online interaction (especially impact of synchronous and asynchronous oral interaction).

The online interactions generated by "Le français en (première) ligne" have been one of the corpuses studied by the research programme "Tools and Teaching for On-line Interactions" ("Outils et didactique pour les interactions en ligne") which was funded by the French Research Ministry (ACI TICE, 2004-2007).
